England announced their squad for the World Cup on the 16th May and manager Gareth Southgate decided not to include the likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Jack Wilshere and Joe Hart. There was however, space for young Liverpool right back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has become a regular under Jurgen Klopp and looks set to play in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
World Cup football betting has Harry Kane as one of the front-runners to finish the tournament as the top scorer, with a price of 12/1. Only Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Brazil’s Neymar have shorter odds, with the odds being 9/1 and 10/1 respectively. Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and France’s Antoine Griezmann share the 12/1 odds with Kane. 
England’s recent history in the World Cup has been something to forget, with the 2014 World Cup seeing the Three Lions knocked out in the group stage after finishing bottom of Group D behind Costa Rica, Uruguay and Italy. Before that, in 2010, England travelled to South Africa and were knocked out in the second round by Germany, losing 4-1.
