Barnsley boss hails giantkillers

09 March 2008 - 10:36

Barnsley boss Simon Davey has hailed his giant killing FA Cup side, as they again turned aside another Premiership giant, turning over Chelsea 1-0 after defeating Liverpool in the previous round of the competition.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Kayode Odejayi's second half header sealed the result and meant a trip to Wembley for the giant killing side.

"We're in the semi-finals - I've never been to Wembley.

"The players will be asking the chairman for new suits and bonuses now. But joking aside, they were magnificent. To beat a team like Chelsea is unbelievable."

Barnsley captain, and hero from the last round win at Anfield, Brian Howard said: "It hasn't sunk in yet. We knocked out Liverpool and have now turned over one of the best squads in England.

"The boys deserved the victory because of the effort they put in. We took our chance and now we're going to Wembley.

"You have to get the record books out to check when Barnsley last reached the semi-finals."
