Fulham to make move for German midfielder Philipp Ochs

18 November 2018 - 01:15

Fulham are to make a move for German midfielder Philipp Ochs during the January transfer window. The winger, who currently plays on loan with Danish club AaB, looks set to return to his parent club Hoffenheim in January in order to complete a permanent transfer to Premier League side Fulham in January.

  • Chelsea ready to pay €120m to sign Rafael Leao
  • Injured Man Utd star to return vs Tottenham Hotspur?

  • Ochs, who began his career playing for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, is highly rated at the club but with a possible offer believed to be in the region of £12.5 million incoming from Fulham, the club will sell the 21-year-old.  Ochs spent some of last season on loan at German club VfL Bochum and had hoped to send Ochs to Denmark for regular first-team action. Although he has been a regular at AaB, Hoffenheim are ready to recall the player to sell him to his next club.

The talented winger has played for Germany's youth team at every single level up to the under-21 side, for whom he currently plays and has 8 caps, scoring 3 goals so far.

Ochs currently has two years remaining on his deal with Hoffenheim, a club famed for giving young talents an opportunity at the highest level in the Bundesliga.

The 5 foot 9 midfielder is seen as very similar to current Fulham star Andre Schurrle, possibly why the club are considering a move for fellow German Ochs.

Fulham recently appointed Claudio Ranieri as their new manager just last week and the Italian - who famously guided Leicester City to Premier League success - is keen to open his cheque book in the January transfer window to sign new players and boost the Cottagers' struggling Premier League campaign. It is understood that Fulham have a budget of £32 million to spend on new faces in the January transfer window, money to be assigned by club owner and chairman Shahid Khan.

Fulham will beat the likes of Werder Bremen, Wolfsburg and Bochum to the signing of Ochs, with all three German teams unlikely to renew their interest in the player after hearing of Ochs' desire to move to the Premier League as soon as possible.

It is understood that Ochs will sign a four year contract at Craven Cottage and is expected to be an important member of the club's squad this season, despite his youthful age and will be deployed mostly as a right winger at his new team.

Fulham will be hoping the arrival of Ochs helps their own Premier League survival hopes, check the latest odds at Novibet Sports to view the club's expected chance of staying up.
