Willian back on Barca radar

Barcelona revive interest in signing Chelsea attacker

03 May 2019 - 20:19

Spanish giants Barcelona have reportedly revived their interest in signing  Willian, whose contract with Chelsea is due to expire at the end of next season.

  • Chelsea make Enzo Fernandez decision for Man Utd game
  • Porto star William Gomes set for Chelsea move?
  • The Brazil international has been a valuable performer for the Blues over the past five years but his future remains uncertain with his contract expiring in 13 months' time.

According to The Sun, the Blaugrana are planning a renewed approach for Willian during the summer after previously failing with bids in the past two transfer windows.

It is added that they could pursue him on a cut-price &pound30m fee which is supposedly less than half of the package proposed to the west London side last summer.

The Blues have a strict policy of handing a maximum of a 12-month deal to players aged above 30 and this is said to have stalled negotiations with Willian, who is said to want a multi-year contract.

Willian has not enjoyed the best of campaigns with the Capital outfit but he has still managed to contribute eight goals and a further 13 assists across all competitions.
