Manchester United have reportedly restarted negotiations with goalkeeper David de Gea as they seek to commit him to a new long-term contract with the club.
The Spain international has been the club's standout performer over the past years but last season was an exception as he was found guilty of making mistakes at crucial periods.
Despite this, he is still regarded as an integral part of the United squad and PA Sport claims that the club have begun fresh discussions with the player's agent regarding an extension.
De Gea currently has 12 months remaining on his contract with the Old Trafford outfit and reports have previously suggested that he wants a sum of around £350,000-a-week to commit his future to the team.
United have been reluctant to meet the demands in previous negotiations with the player's representative but they could eventually accept to the terms to avoid the prospect of losing their world-class shot-stopper.
