Bournemouth will make a transfer move for 21-year-old defender from Mollet del Valles in Spain, Pol Lirola. The highly-rated youngster, who currently plays for Italian Serie A side Sassuolo, has caught the eye in recent months after several impressive performances for his club.Â
It is understood that Lirola will be hoping to push for a place in next summer's Spain squad for the European Championship. If you want to place a bet on this tournament, Bet365 refer a friend before having a wager.
Lirola came through the ranks at Espanyol before making a move to Italy aged just 16 and joining Juventus. In Turin the youngster had limited opportunity before making a loan move to Serie A rivals Sassuolo. From there Lirola was able to eventually force his way in to the club's first-team and with it a permanent transfer soon followed.
Lirola moved to Sassuolo for 7 million euros just 18 months ago and it is now understood that the Cherries will pay 24 million euros to snap up the defender, who has played for Spain's under-21 international side.
For Spain's under-21's, he helped his country this year win the UEFA European under-21 championship and Lirola caught the eye leading to interest from several teams across the continent, including German side Bayern Munich.
Bournemouth have been very active in the transfer market this summer, signing the likes of Diego Rico and Bristol City defender Lloyd Kelly.
The defensive duo are set to be joined with a move for Pol Lirola, but the Spaniard is expected to be an important part of the club's first team.
Bournemouth are amongst the clubs who have been most active in this transfer window, bringing in a host of new players in preparation for the 2019/20 campaign.
Juventus are expected to receive a sell on clause through the transfer to the Premier League outfit, with a fee of around £450,000 expected to make its way to the Turin side.
Since his move to Sassuolo, Lirola has scored two goals for his club in his maiden season for the Italian side, playing in 43 games for his team. One of the reasons why Bournemouth coach Eddie Howe has opted to sign Lirola is that the player has also acquired European experience, having played in the UEFA Europa League for his Serie A club.
