Round number four was the last one before the break for EURO 2020 qualifiers which are played in this upcoming weekend. The previous week was truly amazing, especially the derby match played in London between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Liverpool FC and Manchester City have won their encounters easily and remained at the very top of the table.
Let’s take a look at the most interesting matches played on Saturday & Sunday. The round up is done by the best football betting sites in the UK.
Chelsea FC v Sheffield United
Frank Lampard’s squad keeps hitting the wall in the early stages of Premier League. The Blues were a massive favorite against Sheffield United in front of the home crowd, but the final result of this match was 2-2. The Blues had a 2-0 lead thanks to the two goals scored by Tammy Abraham in the first half. The Blades eventually won a point thanks to Zouma’s own goal in the 90th minute. This was 5th point won for Chelsea in the opening four games. They have conceded nine goals so far, which is the second-worst record in the league at the moment (Norwich are the worst with 10 conceded goals). Lampard did a good job in injecting much-needed energy upon the arrival, especially when it comes to Abraham and his performances. Their backline has to improve a lot though to stay competitive for the top four positions. The upcoming schedule is very hard for the team from Stamford Bridge. They will travel to Molineux on 14th September to face Wolves, then host Valencia in the Champions League and Liverpool FC on 22nd September.
Southampton FC v Manchester United
Troubles for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continue. Not many fans expected to see such bad results and performances after a dominant 4-0 win against Chelsea in the EPL’s opening day. This time Southampton held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw. Daniel James broke the deadlock early with a fantastic shot from the left flank. The final result of the match was set in the 58th minute by Southampton’s defender Jannik Vestergaard with a header. It is worth adding Danso was sent off in the 73rd minute, but still, that was not enough for the Red Devils to find the net for the second time. We were disappointed with the performance of Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard in particular. Manchester United are now sitting in the 8th place with five points, already seven behind the table leaders.
The Leading Duo Marches On
Judging by the early days, we are probably once again end up with two teams being in the active chase for the title. Liverpool FC has played against Burnely on the road this Saturday and achieved their fourth consecutive victory without a trouble 3-0. They are the only team to maintain the 100 percent win rate.
The reigning champions Manchester City needed only 70 seconds to break Brighton’s defense last Saturday at the Etihad. It was a one-sided match, eventually ending 4-0 in their favor. Pep Guardiola’s team is still two points behind the Reds.
Arsenal FC v Tottenham Hotspur
The big North London derby did not disappoint us. It was an open match, full of action, goals and good moves. Home fans were in shock seeing the opposition score two goals in the first half through Cristian Eriksen and Harry Kane. The Gunners, however, did not give up, as Lacazette managed to score just before the half-time whistle. Unai Emery’s team dominated the second part and deservedly scored another goal. Guendouzi’s cross was perfect finding Aubameyang in the box. The Gabonese striker has set the final 2-2 score.
