Manchester United have been handed with a boost in signing Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon during the January transfer window.
The Portuguese was heavily linked with the Red Devils last summer but a deal did not materialise with Sporting reluctant to lower the £64m asking price for the midfielder.
According to The Sun, the Portuguese side are having financial concerns since the beginning of the season and they could be compelled to sanction Fernandes' sale at the turn of the year.
It is added that the Lisbon giants are likely to accept a lesser sum than demanded during the summer and that could revive the long-term interest from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.
Fernandes bagged a stunning tally of 32 goals and 18 assists for Sporting last season. He has continued in the same vein of form this term and has bagged eight goals and six assists from just 14 games.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the playmaker since the summer transfer window but it is unclear whether they will revive their pursuit after landing Giovani Lo Celso over the summer.
