James Maddison to sign Leicester City deal

James Maddison to sign Leicester City deal

21 November 2019 - 15:24

England and Leicester City midfielder James Maddison is expected to put pen to paper on a new contract with the Foxes within the next two weeks, despite the ongoing interest of Man Utd and Chelsea. Maddison is regarded as one of England's best young prospects.

  • The impressive creative player has caught the eye since making the step up from the Championship from his former club Norwich City, but an excellent start to the season in the Premier League appears to have persuaded Maddison to stay put.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is known to be a fan of Maddison and will be given significant funds to spend on new players in the January transfer window. Solskjaer has made Maddison his primary target, with the Norwegian manager seeking a long term replacement for Juan Mata, who is expected to depart Old Trafford at the end of the current season. According to Bwin, the favourite destination for Maddison is likely to be Old Trafford next.

However,  that may still be quite some time away. Maddison is happy at Leicester City and confident the club can go on to challenge for further honours this season.

It is understood that England manager Gareth Southgate has encouraged Maddison to stay put, as he looks to craft his creative options around the duo of Mason Mount and James Maddison.
