Arsenal's chance of signing Dayot Upamecano could be boosted in January, should RB Leipzig manage to land the services of Paris Saint-Germain graduate Tanguy Kouassi.
The Bundesliga leaders had received a late £55m bid from the Gunners for Upamecano last summer but they declined the package as it was below the £70m release clause of the player.
Upamecano struggled for gametime at the beginning of the season due to his recovery from a knee injury but over the past few months, he has been ever-present at the heart of the defence.
According to Le Parisien, Leipzig could be willing to sanction the sale of Upamecano next month, provided they are able to finalise an agreement for Kouassi from Paris Saint-Germain.
Upamecano currently has a £70m release clause on his contract but the same is expected to reduce to £53m at the conclusion of the ongoing league campaign.
The Gunners are said to be optimistic of pushing through a winter move for the central defender but it is unclear whether they are willing to come up with an improved offer.
