AC Milan are reportedly in the market for Roma defender Philippe Mexes. Gazzetta dello Sport believe that Alberto Gilardino could be offered as part of the swap deal for the French central defender.

  • Chelsea keen on re-signing former graduate
  • Many regard Mexes as one of the best defenders in the world, and a fee of £10 million has been suggested to bring the player to Milan.

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has already revealed that he will be spending at least £25 million players this summer and Mexes may well be the first to join the club.

The 26-year-old is widely regarded as the best defender in Serie A.
