Manchester United set asking price for defender sale

07 February 2020 - 19:22

Manchester United have reportedly told AS Roma that they won't accept anything less than £15m for the sale of defender Chris Smallig in the summer.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The England international has enjoyed an impressive loan season with the Giallorossi and he has already made 22 appearances for them in all competitions.

Roma have already hinted that they would like to keep the defender on a permanent deal but Gazzetta dello Sport claims that they will have to meet the £15m asking price set by United to sign him.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been impressed with the defender's showing since the move to the Serie A and it has recently been claimed that the centre-back could be re-integrated into the United squad.

Smalling, however, has no intention of playing for United in the future and he is likely to push for a permanent departure in the summer regardless of whether Roma are successful with their approach or not.
