McCarthy signs new deal

10 April 2008 - 21:19

South African striker Benni McCarthy has signed a new contract with his club Blackburn that will see him staying at the club for at least a further four years. The front man had been in discussions with his club for over three months.

  • McCarthy has seemingly impressed enough to be rewarded with a deal worth an estimated £40,000 a week, after bagging 11 goals in 35 appearances this season and forming a superb partnership up front for Rovers with Roque Santa Cruz.

The South African has also reportedly rejected three other clubs that were interested in his services, and the former Porto striker had been tipped with a move to Spain as Valencia were linked with the player.
