If this season has taught us anything, it is that there is a lack of depth in the Lilywhites squad.
That means Daniel Levy must get his wallet out this summer (if there is a transfer window that is), but before the millions are splashed, it may be worth looking a little closer to home as there are a number of youngsters out on loan who may be ready to step in and build a spine for the future.
So, who are the players who could step up to the plate next season and strengthen the squad?
Jack Clarke
When Tottenham signed Clarke from Leeds United last summer, the England Under-20 international had just played an integral part of Whites run to the playoffs.
The highly rated winger was sent back on loan to Elland Road where he hardly touched a ball. Now at QPR (and despite a lack of playing time) Clarke’s ability has never been in doubt.
In fact, the youngster can also play as a centre forward aside from his usual wing position and is a viable back up should Kane and Son Heung Min succumb to more injury woes like this season.
Clarke has proven he has the ability to mix it in the Championship and surely deserves his chance in the Premier League.
Cameron Carter-Vickers
Defence has been a big problem for Spurs this season. As it stands right now, the Lilywhites haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last eight games and have the worst defensive record of any steam inside the top nine in the Premier League.
Having played more than seventy games away from Tottenham on loan, defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is more than ready to step into the defensive frontline as more than suitable back up to Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
The American has also earned eight caps for the USA so has top level experience and at the age of 22, is just coming into his own. Surely worthy of a place in the Tottenham squad next season?
Jack Roles
You may be forgiven for not being too familiar with Jack Roles, but the 21-year-old midfielder has been ripping up trees with Cambridge United this season.
Already the youngster has scored five times in twenty loan league appearances for Cambridge United in League Two and was named player of the month in October.
He even scored a 30-yard screamer against Macclesfield Town which was nominated for the goal of the month and has so far proven a huge hit at the Abbey Stadium.
Roles has also impressively been capped by Cyprus and although the level of football he is playing may be questionable. There can be few doubts the youngster is well worth taking a chance on in the Spurs squad next season.
Even if it is as something of a bit part player to test the waters more for an assault on the upcoming 2020/21 Premier League season.
