Edinson Cavani in line to make Manchester United debut against Chelsea

Edinson Cavani could make his Manchester United debut against Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.

  • Mikel Arteta confirms double fitness blow for Man Utd game

  • The Uruguayan international joined the Red Devils on a free transfer earlier this month, but he has yet to make his debut due to quarantine protocols.

He was involved in training prior to the Paris Saint-Germain game, but was not deemed fit enough to face his former side in the Champions League.

However, the 33-year-old could make his debut against the Blues this weekend, provided he is able to pass the fitness test, Football.London reports.

United will be without Martial, who is serving the second game of a three-match domestic suspension and it remains to be seen whether Cavani leads the line.

Marcus Rashford has been the go-to choice for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the absence of Martial, but the England international tends to fare better when he plays on the left side of the attack.

Cavani has played against Chelsea in the past on eight occasions and has been on the winning side four times. He has bagged three goals and two assists in those meetings.
