Manchester United goalkeeper set for Boca Juniors move

07 January 2021 - 20:54

Manchester United have reportedly permitted Sergio Romero to return to Argentina ahead of his proposed move to Boca Juniors.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Romero had been the back-up goalkeeper behind David de Gea over the past five seasons, but his place was taken by Dean Henderson in the summer.

Shortly after, he was excluded from the club's Premier League and Europa League squads, much to the surprise of some fans.

With less than six months left on his contract, Romero is now free to speak to overseas clubs and M.E.N claims that he is set to join Boca.

Romero has already said his goodbyes to the United players and staff and he is presently in Argentina finalising his move to South American giants.

Boca won't pay any transfer fee for the ex-Sampdoria man. Romero is likely to mutually terminate his deal with United.

Romero has made 61 appearances for the Red Devils during his five-and-a-half seasons. Only seven of those outings have come in the Premier League.
