Manchester United will need to pay an additional £4.2m to Sporting Lisbon, should Bruno Fernandes win the PFA Player of the Year award.

  • Andre Onana asked Man Utd for a pay rise

  • The Portugal international has been in sublime form for the Mancunian giants this term, registering 22 goals and 13 assists from 40 games.

In Premier League terms, he has 15 goals and 11 assists to his name and is one of the favourites to win the PFA award at the end of the campaign.

According to The Times, there is a clause on Fernandes' deal where United need to pay Sporting £4.2m, if he wins the PFA accolade or finishes in the top three of Ballon d'Or.

Fernandes was purchased from the Portuguese giants for around £46.5m in January last year. The club have already paid an additional £8.4m for the player to Sporting.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side paid the sum when Fernandes made his 25th start and helped them qualify for the Champions League at the end of the previous season.
