Chelsea could reportedly beat Manchester United to the signing of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane this summer.
The Blues are keen on signing an elite centre-back, and Varane is one of the top names on their transfer wishlist.
United have been deemed front-runners to sign the Frenchman, but they have yet to finalise a fee with Los Blancos.
The Spanish heavyweights are looking for around €70m while the Red Devils are reluctant to pay more than €50m.
The Blues are keeping a close eye on the situation, and they could make an approach of their own for the defender.
Varane is keen on testing himself in the Premier League after spending a decade in the Spanish La Liga with Madrid.
He has been a long-term target for United, who failed to sign him from Lens in 2011. They failed with another attempt in 2019.
They could miss out on his services once again if they continue to haggle over the valuation for the World Cup winner.
