Zarate wants Birmingham stay

Zarate wants Birmingham stay

21 April 2008 - 19:00

Birmingham striker Mauro Zarate has revealed he is very keen to stay at the club next season. Despite only being on loan from Qatar side Al-Saad, it is believed Birmingham are ready to make a permanent move for the player.

  • Arsenal & Chelsea want Junior Kroupi
  • Chelsea keen on signing Newcastle United winger
  • "The plan is to either stay in England or play elsewhere in Europe,” he said. "Birmingham City was the first club to show interest and faith in me though so I'd like to be able to stay here."

Zarate has been in inspired form this season for Birmingham, particularly in the second half of the season, and Birmingham had been quoted £18 million to make the deal permanent - but instead could offer £9 million in the hope they can barter with the player's club.
