Barcelona edge closer to Aubameyang loan deal

Aubameyang to depart Arsenal for Barca

Barcelona edge closer to Aubameyang loan deal

30 January 2022 - 18:39

Barcelona will sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this week, with the Gabon international forward set to end his Arsenal stay. The player has fallen out of favour at the Emirates.

  • Barcelona have already secured the loan signing of Adama Traore from Wolves, and are set to follow that up with a deal tomorrow for Auba. The Gunners' former captain was stripped of his responsibilities for several disciplinary breaches and now will move to Spain to rekindle his season.

A major issue appears to be the hefty salary of Aubameyang, with the former Borussia Dortmund man earning £350,000 per week with Arsenal. Barcelona are only willing to pay around half of that to secure the striker's services.

Mikel Arteta looks set to miss out on a replacement for Aubameyang on transfer deadline day, so this January could be a disapointing one for Arsenal fans.

The forward played 128 times for Arsenal since his arrival in 2018, and justifiably leaves the club a legend having helped secure the FA Cup with winning goals in the cup final against Chelsea.
