Why Man City still look odds on to take Premier League title

13 March 2022 - 02:52

Despite Liverpool's impressive 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, Manchester City still look odds on to secure another Premier League title. Pep Guardiola's team have at times looked unbeatable this campaign and today visit Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park looking to add a further three points.

  • Chelsea eyeing part-exchange deal to sign Osimhen
  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • Even after last season's Premier League title and one of the best squads put together in the league's history, very few had thought City would better their 2020-21 campaign. Having lost Sergio Aguero to Barcelona, City looked weak at best in their attack. Despite missing out on Harry Kane, who opted to stay with Spurs, City had not been able to find a like for like replacement for Aguero.

Gabriel Jesus had started the campaign as a lone striker, but Guardiola much prefers the Brazilian in an attacking midfield or winger role. As such, the City manager has yet to have found a real long-term successor for Argentinian Aguero.

However, despite missing out on Kane, the signing of Jack Grealish added sufficient strength in depth and a number of solid results began the season for the Cityzens.

As we head into the latter part of the league season, many are asking if City have the numbers to win another title. Liverpool are only just behind, with Jurgen Klopp's side looking the better side on paper this season.

However, Man City's fixture list looks much more favourable than Liverpool's. Following the game at Palace, trips to Burnley follow, before the Anfield side themselves come to visit the Etihad. That will be a crucial game that will largely dictate the outcome of the title race, with City having the home advantage.

Beyond the remaining fixtures, when looking at the odds provided by SportsBettingDime.com for the EPL tournament we can clearly see Man City as the indisputable favorite with odds at -450 to win Premier League.

All roads seem to lead to another Manchester City championship, no matter where you look.
