Which Countries Will Surprise At the Fifa World Cup in 2022?

17 November 2022 - 20:00

The Fifa World Cup is a quadrennial international association football competition fought by the teams of the member associations of FIFA. The championship has been awarded every four years since 1930, except in 1942 and 1946. The current champions are France, who won the title in Russia in 2018.

  • The 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar. This will be the first time that Qatar hosts the competition, and it will be the first time that an Arab country hosts the World Cup. As such, many people are unsure as to which countries will surprise at this year's cup.

    Qatar

When most people think of Qatar, they probably don't imagine a world-class sporting powerhouse. After all, this small desert nation is better known for its gleaming skyscrapers than for its athletic prowess. And yet, when it comes to the World Cup, Qatar's small size shouldn't be considered a disadvantage at all. In fact, with tremendous resources and intense dedication to their chosen sport, Qatari athletes are poised for success in the upcoming tournament – even though they may not be high in the latest world cup odds.

Despite their underdog status, Qatar's soccer players have what it takes to compete with the best teams in the world. They have harnessed cutting-edge technology and innovative training methods in order to improve their skills and achieve new heights of performance. And on top of that, they have been fueled by an unflinching determination to succeed – something that cannot be underestimated when competing against bigger nations on this global stage. Indeed, while skeptics may ridicule Qatar as a small country without much hope of winning the World Cup, those in the know see this tiny nation as a true contender. After all, anything can happen in a single game of soccer – so nobody should count out Qatar just yet!

    Croatia

When it comes to football, Croatia has a long and illustrious history. Time and time again, they have proven to be a fierce competitor on the pitch, consistently punching above their weight and outperforming all expectations. And it seems that this year is no different - experts are already predicting that Croatia will make it far in the upcoming tournament. Despite fielding a relatively young team, many are confident that the team's unflagging energy and passion will see them through.

Gvardiol: one of Croatia's young talents

So if you're looking for an underdog to root for this summer, why not put your faith in crazy-haired Zlatko Dalic and his band of gritty underdogs?

    United States

Despite its long and illustrious history of athletic success, the United States has never won the World Cup. Despite this fact, many experts are bullish on the US's chances this year. This optimism stems from several key factors, including a talented roster of players, excellent coaching from long-time manager Jurgen Klinsmann, and deep roots in American sports culture. The US team is also benefiting from an impressive training regimen that has given players a fighting chance against more experienced squads from other countries. So while the US may not have triumphed at previous World Cups, it remains one of the top contenders to take the title this year. And if everything falls into place just right on the pitch, it could be anybody's game come July.

    Mexico

A perennial favorite in the World Cup, Mexico is always a team to watch. And this year is no different - with an impressive roster of young talent and a proven track record of success, Mexico is once again poised to make a deep run in the tournament. While some may say that the team is due for a letdown after their disappointing performance in 2014, others argue that they have only gotten stronger since then. With a strong mix of experience and youth, there is no doubt that Mexico will be a force to be reckoned with this summer. So whether you're cheering them on from the stands or rooting for them from home, make sure to keep an eye on El Tri - they're sure to put on a show!

The World Cup is always full of surprises. Some teams that no one expects to do well end up making it all the way to the finals, while other top contenders flame out early on. Who will be this year's dark horses? Will a team from South America finally break through and win the tournament on their home turf? Or will Europe dominate yet again? Only time will tell. We can't wait to see how things play out – make sure you stay tuned to find out who comes out on top!
