Chelsea target Christopher Nkunku could be out of action for 10 weeks following his knee injury in France training.
The 24-year-old has been ruled out of the upcoming World Cup in Qatar after sustaining an injury earlier in the week.
The initial suggestions were that he could be out for a month, but Bild claim that the injury is now worse than feared.
The Frenchman has apparently suffered torn outer ligaments and this could keep him out of action for two and a half months.
The news will come as a huge blow for the Blues, considering they were aiming to sign him during the January window.
Nkunku has already undergone a medical and agreed personal terms. All that is left is for the clubs to finalise the transfer fee.
Chelsea were prepared to pay more than his €60m release clause in January, but may now have to rethink their transfer strategy.
It does not make sense to spend on an injured player.
