Zambrotta: a season to forget

Zambrotta: a season to forget

12 May 2008 - 13:03

FC Barcelona full back Gianluca Zambrotta has said that this has been a season to forget for both and his club. The Catalan giants have once again ended up barren-handed and the Italian international said has termed this season as one to forget.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Barcelona have failed to challenge Real Madrid for the Spanish league title and faulted at the semi-final stage of the UEFA Champions League. This is the second successive season in which the Blaugrana have failed to garner a trophy and several of the players have been off-key throughout.

Gianluca Zambrotta himself has been under fire for his lackluster performance for Barca this season, which is his second in Spanish football, and said:

“I only think about finishing and forgetting this season. Then, we will see what happens.”

Barcelona took a 2-0 against Real Mallorca at Camp Nou on Sunday evening but allowed the Islanders to march back to a 3-2 win. Zambrotta had this to say after the match:

“The atmosphere was a little bit strange, but that's something we were expecting. I believe we played a good football during the first-half and a not so good during the second.”
