Barcelona want to sign Chivu

12 May 2008 - 16:30

According to reports in Spain, Barcelona are considering a move for Romanian defender Cristian Chivu from Inter. The defender is expected to be a crucial player for his national side in Euro 2008, and Barcelona are keen to tie up a deal for him prior to the tournament.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • According to a source at the club, Chivu is certainly a target for Barca: "Chivu is the one player who Pep (Guardiola) likes the most but getting him will be impossible."

Inter are expected to command a £15 million fee to allow the Romanian to leave the club, but there have been reports that Gianluca Zambrotta could be included in a part-exchange plus cash deal.
