Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has said that he is very happy to keep Harry Maguire at the club this season.
The Red Devils recently agreed a deal worth £30m for the sale of Maguire to West Ham United, but the move did not materialise.
Maguire refused to negotiate personal terms with the Hammers and as a result, the transfer broke down earlier this week.
When asked about the decision, Ten Hag said that he is very happy to keep hold of his former captain with a lot of fixtures to cover.
He said: "We have a lot of fixtures to cover, so I'm very happy Harry Maguire's here. He has to fight for his position, as does everyone in the squad. We construct a squad with double positions, but we need it."
Maguire currently has two years remaining on his contract with the Red Devils. The club have the option to extend for another season.
The hierarchy recently planned to sign Benjamin Pavard after his exit, but that plan has been scrapped with Maguire's decision to stay.
