Calderon not sure about Kaka move

14 May 2008 - 06:08

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has reiterated his doubts on signing the Brazilian ace Kaka from AC Milan in the summer even though Milan might not qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Real Madrid have been in the chase for Kaka’s signature ever since Ramon Calderon took over the presidential office at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2006 but the Merengues have consistently failed to persuade both Milan and Kaka to listen to their offer.

This season Milan are having yet another poor season and are currently fifth in the Italian Serei A table with the prospect of qualifying for the Champions League next season depending on Fiorentina, who are fourth in the table and need a win this weekend to qualify for Europe’s top tier club competition next season.

There has of course been speculation on Kaka’s future in the red-and-black half of Milan but the player himself has stated that he loves the club and that he wants to carry on playing at Milan for good. All this contrived Calderon’s bid to lure the current FIFA World Player of the Year to the Bernabeu quite hard and Signor Calderon acceded the fact:

“I do not know if there will be a chance to sign Kaka if Milan does not make the Champions League. They're known as only a buying club.”

Yet Real Madrid have played this game before too. At one time they declare that they do want to sign Kaka and other top players but the very next moment, there’s a leak that they do are contemplating signing the player.
