Stuttgart eye Liverpool’s Voronin

14 May 2008 - 08:13

German Bundesliga club VFB Stuttgart are reportedly lining up a bid to sign Ukrainian striker Andriy Voronin from Liverpool this summer.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • Voronin was signed by Liverpool last summer on a free transfer after his contact with German side Bayer Leverkuen ran out. Voronin was not excpected to start games at Anfield and he didn’t last season under manager Rafael Benitez.

Andriy Voronin played most of his matches off the bench and although his first season in the Premiership wasn’t the greatest, he was certainly a significant player for Benitez. Yet there are emerging reports that suggest that Liverpool could be persuaded to offload the player, maybe on a loan deal.

Stuttgart sporting director Jochen Schneider has reportedly held talks with the 29-year old’s advisor Andrej Golowasch and things are stated to be moving on a positive note. Voroonin’s contract at Anfield runs until the end of the 2011 season but Stuttgart are quite ready to take the player on loan.

The Ukrainian international has spent quite a number of years of his career in Germany. Voronin has featured for Bundesliga clubs Mainz, Cologne, Borussia Mönchengladbach and recently Bayer Leverkusen.
