Chelsea continue to remain interested in signing Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Frenchman was constantly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window, but the Blues did not make a proposal.
The west London giants ended up signing Cole Palmer from Manchester City instead, but they could return for Cherki in the coming windows.
Romano has revealed that the Blues have been following the playmaker for some time, but he is not a priority target for them at the moment.
Aside from the Blues, a number of other English clubs are also tracking his progress, but Romano does not have permission to disclose them.
Chelsea have had a disastrous start to another Premier League season and they have just four points on the board after as many matches.
The club need a huge turnaround of fortunes following the international break or they could struggle to finish anywhere near the top four.
