Manchester United midfielder Casemiro suffered an ankle injury during the recent World Cup qualifier for Brazil.
The 31-year-old has been an undisputed starter for club and country, and he recently played 79 minutes against Venezuela.
Brazil's interim boss Fernando Diniz has now revealed that the midfielder asked to be substituted with an ankle problem.
The extent of the concern has not been revealed, but we should more about his condition before the Uruguay game next week.
Casemiro will be assessed by Brazil's medical staff and a final decision will be taken in the lead-up to the World Cup qualifier.
The news is a potential blow for the Red Devils, who have been without several key players with injuries this season.
The club are currently without Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who are the first-choice defenders.
Varane missed the Brentford game with a minor issue but it is anticipated that he will return for the Sheffield United clash.
