Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has suffered an ankle injury ahead of the Premier League clash against Sheffield United.
The Brazilian picked up the injury during the World Cup qualifier against Venezuela last week and he was substituted in the 79th minute.
Fernando Diniz confirmed the same in a press conference and it is now claimed that the setback is serious than initially predicted.
Casemiro's ankle is badly swollen at the moment and he is expected to be ruled out of the World Cup qualifier against Uruguay.
He could subsequently miss the weekend's Premier League clash at Sheffield United which United are clear favourites to win.
The exact timescale for his recovery has not been revealed but we should get an answer from manager Erik ten Hag later in the week.
In the absence of Casemiro, Sofyan Amrabat is widely expected to start in the number six role against the Blades away from home.
United are currently 10th in the league standings with 12 points.
