Hull City see off Watford

14 May 2008 - 22:14

Hull City earned a marvelous 6-1 aggregate victory over Watford in the Play-off semi-final second leg on Wednesday evening, thanks to a 4-1 victory over their Championship rivals.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • A goal from Darius Henderson on 12 minutes gave Watford the perfect start as they looked to apply some early pressure on Hull, who carried the all important first leg lead.

Hull levelled matters just before half time thanks to Nicky Barmby, who proved that experience rises to the big occasion, as he headed home a cheeky Garcia cross.

Substitute Tamas Priskin nearly put Watford ahead seconds after coming on in the second half but fortunately for Hull, Boaz Myhill was there to make a brilliant save.

Hull took the lead in the 70th minute as Sam Ricketts raced down the right and crossed towards substitute Folan, who neatly headed the ball home.

Watford came close to pulling one back late on as Jobi McAnuff crossed for Henderson but his header was rescued off the line by Hull.

The game was finished as a contest on 88 as Garcia raced through to slip home, and the fourth came on 90 minutes when Doyle made the defence look silly to wrap up the result and a trip to Wembley awaits.
