Joao Neves wanted by Man Utd & Man City

Man Utd & Man City keeping tabs on Portuguese wonderkid

06 November 2023 - 20:57

Manchester United and Manchester City are keeping a close watch on the performances of Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves.

  • Chelsea suffer big injury blow ahead of Everton game
  • Enzo Fernandez refuses to rule out Chelsea exit

  • The Red Devils currently have Casemiro, Sofyan Amrabat (loan) and Scott McTominay as their defensive midfielders, but there could be an overhaul next summer.

Casemiro has had a poor second season with the club and has become injury-prone. On the other hand, Amrabat has failed to adapt to the intensity of the Premier League.

McTominay also faces an uncertain future, considering his poor defensive awareness. There could be a midfield overhaul and Neves could be signed by the Red Devils.

The 19-year-old is regarded as one of the best young defensive midfielders in world football and he has been tipped to leave Benfica for a bigger challenge soon.

He currently has a release clause worth €120m in his contract but Benfica will need to be convinced to lower the fee. City should provide strong competition for his services.
