Manchester United and Liverpool could go head-to-head to sign Portuguese defender Goncalo Inacio this winter.
The centre-back has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time and it could happen next year.
Inacio signed a new deal earlier this season, but he is still anticipated to leave Sporting Lisbon at some point in 2024.
According to Record, both United and Liverpool are exploring a deal for him and could make bids in the New Year.
Inacio currently has a €60 million release clause in his Sporting contract and may not accept anything less in January.
This is a potential concern, particularly for the Red Devils, who are presently in a tight financial situation.
Unless there is ownership investment, it is highly unlikely that they will afford his signature at the turn of the year.
Inacio is open to moving to the Premier League, but he is prepared to wait for the right opportunity and won't force his exit.
