The 20-year-old is one of the most sought-after youngsters in world football and he has been fancied to pursue a bigger challenge soon.

Record claim that United are 'very attentive' to the performances of the Portuguese star and they are 'very interested' in signing him.

It is added that the Red Devils are ready to meet his €100m release clause but could wait until the summer to secure his signature.

Silva only made his debut for Benfica last season, but he has already established himself as a key player for club and country.

The Portuguese has no weaknesses in his game at such a young age and he looks set to move to an elite European club pretty soon.

United are not alone in the pursuit of the youngster and they are likely to face competition from Real Madrid and Chelsea for him.
