Yebda to join Benfica

18 May 2008 - 22:26

The agreement between Hassan Yebda and Benfica will be done in a matter of hours. The defensive midfielder, who is nearing the end of his contract at Le Mans, could become the second reinforcement of " encarnados" (after Ruben Amorim) this summer, the finalising of this matter can happen between today and tomorrow .

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Everything indicates that Hassan Yebda is singing Benfica for the next four seasons. Rui Costa, the sporting director of Benfica, contacted yesterday the agent of the player (Luis da Costa) on two occasions, assuring him of the impending agreement between the parties. "Yebda is 95 percent coming to Benfica," said Luis da Costa, revealing that "there are only a few details, so everything is completely right."

Agent and player must come to Portugal "in the coming days" so that the final parts of the contract are resolved.

"Yebda wanted to go to Benfica and the club also wished to have the player," summarizes Luis da Costa. It is noted that the midfielder of Le Mans ends his time with the French club at the end of the month and was the subject of interest in England (Wigan).

Hassan Yebda was not used in yesterday's defeat (3-4) to Metz. "I didn't want to risk my condition - Benfica is a great club. I have received contact from Rui Costa and his' staff 'and I hope that the deal is completed because Benfica is one of the best known sides in Europe."
