Arsenal and Manchester United have been handed a boost in signing Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana at the end of the season.
The France international was linked with a transfer away from Monaco last summer. He was on the radar of multiple Premier League clubs including Fulham and Nottingham Forest.
However, he decided to continue with the Ligue 1 outfit for another year. Monaco's CEO Thiago Scuro has now acknowledged that Fofana could be sold with his contract expiring in June next year.
He said: "There were good opportunities for him to leave last summer."
"It was his decision to stay because of his personal goals. It was a very good decision for us.
"He had a very good and consistent season, for him too as it was probably his best season at AS Monaco."
Monaco have set a modest asking price of around €30m for the midfielder. Arsenal and United have been keeping tabs and could be tempted to enter negotiations for his services.
