Spurs and Man Utd to battle it out for French defender?

23 May 2024 - 20:39

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United could compete for the signature of Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo this summer.

  • Spanish defender very happy at Chelsea
  • Arsenal ready to pay £60m to sign 43-goal striker

  • Spurs were linked with a move for the Frenchman in January, but they decided to sign Radu Dragusin from Genoa instead.

United have also been admirers of the former Barcelona man and Nice-Matin claim that the duo could compete for his services.

Todibo has opened the possibility of leaving Nice during the summer and he would welcome a move to the Premier League.

Both Spurs and United are capable of meeting the price tag, but the centre-back may want the assurance of playing time.

In that case, United could have the upper hand over Spurs, considering Todibo could be a replacement for Raphael Varane.

Spurs currently have Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, who are very much guaranteed starters under Ange Postecoglou.

Aside from this, United have the advantage of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is their co-owner as well as the owner of Nice.
