Tulio in shock Man City link

Tulio in shock Man City link

19 May 2008 - 18:10

Marcus Tulio Tanaka, a Japanese international defender who plays for Urawa Red Diamonds, is reportedly on the radar of Manchester City who are looking for defensive cover for next season.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • One of the obvious benefits of signing Asian players is their commercial profitability, but the Brazilian/Japanese player has been one of the stars of the season in the J-League this year, helping Urawa Red Diamonds to the top of the league.

Tulio was actually born in Brazil to a Japanese/Brazilian father and Italian/Brazilian mother; therefore the player would automatically acquire a work permit in the Premiership through his EU status.

The 28 year old will jump at the chance to try his luck in the Premiership. Tulio is valued by his club, Urawa, at around £1.5 million and discussions over a move are expected to commence in June.
