Manchester United could make a surprise move to sign Bologna centre-back Jhon Lucumi in the current transfer window, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Colombia international had a brilliant 2023/24 campaign with the Serie A outfit. He formed a brilliant centre-back partnership with Riccardo Calafiori as the club finished an impressive fifth in the table.
Bologna have qualified for the Champions League as a result, but this is unlikely to stop him from leaving for a bigger challenge. It is now reported that United have their sights on signing the 26-year-old.
Lucumi is free to leave Bologna for around £15m, but reports claim that the fee could increase if there is more Premier League interest. Still, he would represent a bargain, considering his superb passing range.
Lucumi was the best passer in Serie A last term with an accuracy of 93.4 percent and he would be a fantastic acquisition irrespective of United's pursuit of Jarrad Branthwaite. He can play in both centre-back roles.
