Manchester United have made a fresh proposal to sign Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves this summer, according to Correio da Manha.
The Red Devils are eyeing a new defensive midfielder this summer and they are looking at different options in the transfer market.
Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte has been heavily linked in the last month, but reports claim that Neves is also on their radar.
United failed with an opening bid of €60m for Neves last month and they have now made an improved proposal of €70m for his services.
The proposal has also been turned down by Benfica, but there is optimism from United's side that a deal could be done this summer.
Benfica president Rui Costa is currently holding out for Neves' €120m release clause, but he has not ruled out a compromise.
If United were to pay around €100m for his services, a deal could be done between the clubs. However, they will face competition.
Arsenal and Liverpool are also firm admirers of the 19-year-old.
