Manchester United prefer to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro ahead of Bayern star Matthijs de Ligt this summer, according to The Athletic.
The Red Devils are expected to strengthen their central defensive department this summer after the exits of Raphael Varane and Willy Kambwala.
They have plans to sign just one centre-back and it is claimed that Yoro is the number one target for the Red Devils' hierarchy.
However, a deal is far from straightforward. They have already agreed a deal worth €50m with Lille, but have yet to convince Yoro.
The teenager presently has his sights on joining Real Madrid and he is currently waiting for a transfer bid from them.
Should they not meet Lille's demands, Yoro could be tempted to consider a move to the Premier League with the Red Devils.
United are prepared to stay patient in the pursuit. If Yoro does not join them, they could step up their interest in De Ligt.
