Arsenal remain €10m apart from signing Serie A star

18 July 2024 - 20:52

Arsenal continue to remain €10m apart from signing Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori this summer, according to Sky Sport Italy.

  • Juventus and Napoli enter race for Chelsea winger
  • Felix Nmecha linked with Chelsea move

  • The Gunners have already agreed personal terms with the Italy international, but they are yet to find an agreement with the Serie A outfit.

Bologna want €50m as a fixed fee for the versatile defender as they owe 40 percent of the fee to his former club Basel due to a sell-on clause.

However, the Gunners are only willing to pay €40m up front with the remaining €10m in add-ons. The difference has not been resolved.

Bologna have tried to compensate with a separate loan deal for Jakub Kiwior with an obligation to buy, but the Pole does not wish to join them.

Kiwior has opened the door for a return to Serie A this summer, but he is prioritising a move to either Juventus or Milan instead of Bologna.

As things stand, Arsenal have made no progress in the Calafiori deal, but they remain optimistic of finding a solution in the coming days.
