Manchester United have great interest in signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong before the transfer window closes this month.
The Red Devils are long-term admirers of the Dutchman and they tried to sign him two years ago. Back then, the club agreed a fee with the Blaugrana, but the Netherlands ace decided against the move.
It is now reported that United are back in the race for the 27-year-old and they are prepared to do everything to sign him. Barcelona value him at around £51m and the fee may not be a problem for United.
However, the main task could be to persuade De Jong. The Dutch ace is currently out with an ankle injury sustained in April. There is no return date at the moment and he could be out for the next month or so.
De Jong has repeatedly said that he has no desire to leave the Catalan giants and he may refuse United again. Erik ten Hag could make direct contact with his former Ajax midfielder in order to convince him.
