Skibbe gets chop at Leverkusen

21 May 2008 - 11:39

Michael Skibbe has become the latest managerial casualty in the Bundesliga after Thomas Doll was sacked last week, as Skibbe was fired from his role at German side Bayer Leverkusen.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Leverkusen only were able to take seven points in their last 10 games, and ended up in 7th.

Skibbe was unfortunately fired for this bad form after missing out on Europe.

“Due to the last Bundesliga results and the fact that we have not met our season’s targets we have decided on an immediate parting of the ways with Michael Skibbe” said Chairman Wolfgang Holzhäuser.

“We had long and numerous discussions because Michael Skibbe has performed well during his time in charge. But at the end of the day everything pointed towards a brand new start for the club next season under a new trainer."
