Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk has sent a message to Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt following his error in the Nations League game against Germany.
The Dutch played out an entertaining 2-2 draw against the Germans at home on Tuesday night. De Ligt squandered possession in the lead-up to the first goal for the visitors.
De Ligt was taken off at half-time with Jan Paul van Hecke replacing him. Speaking after the game, Van Dijk said that the United ace has to learn and can't afford such mistakes at the highest level.
He said: "This is football. You have to learn from this. It was one moment but at the highest level you will get punished for it."
De Ligt has had a tough start to his United career and he will be keen to impress when the club face Southampton on the road following the international break.
United are in a must-win situation, considering they are four points adrift of the Champions League positions after just three games into the Premier League season.
