Manchester United have identified Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies as a dream signing for the left wing-back position.
The Red Devils are aiming to bolster the wing-back department next year with new manager Ruben Amorim set to play with a 3-4-3 system.
Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have returned from respective injuries, but Amorim could give preference to a new signing who suits him.
United have their sights on landing Davies whose contract with Bayern expires next summer. He has turned down a fresh renewal.
Real Madrid are also in contention to land his services, but United are hopeful of luring him to Manchester on a free transfer next summer.
He is considered as a dream option for the left wing-back role. It remains to be seen whether Davies can be persuaded to join the club.
Davies wants to play regular Champions League football and win major trophies. United are far from that position at the moment.
The club are languishing 13th in the Premier League and need a huge turnaround under Amorim to qualify for the Champions League.
