Manchester United and Arsenal are expected to miss out on signing Lille striker Jonathan David during the winter transfer window.
David has been linked with a Premier League move for some period of time and the likes of United and Arsenal have been tracking him.
A recent report claimed that the Canadian could be signed for around €20m in January with his current contract expiring in June next year.
However, Lille president Oliver Letang has clarified that the club are prepared to keep him in January and risk losing him on a free transfer.
He told After Foot RMC: "We are not going to sell him in January and we have not received any offer for him. Jonathan's situation is super simple. We are very happy to have you with us."
The 24-year-old has been in superb form for Les Dogues this campaign. He has netted 13 goals and provided two assists from 17 appearances.
Four of those goals have come in the Champions League against Real Madrid, Juventus and Atletico Madrid. He has certainly built his reputation.
