Manchester United are set to miss out on signing Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies next summer, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Red Devils are aiming to bolster the left wing-back position next year and manager Ruben Amorim has made the department as the top priority.
Davies has emerged as a top target over the past month with suggestions that he could leave Bayern when his contract expires at the end of the season.
However, there has been a major twist to the tale with reports now claiming that Davies has opened talks with Bayern over a new long-term deal.
He has agreed to lower his wage demands on the table and Bayern are now open to committing him to an improved contract in the near future, as per Plettenberg.
The news is a huge setback for United as well as Real Madrid, who looked optimistic about signing him on a free transfer in July next year.
