Brazilian giants Flamengo are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Jorginho on a permanent transfer this month, according to UOL.
The Italy international joined the Gunners from Chelsea two years ago. He has been a valuable member of the squad with consistent displays.
His current deal expires at the end of the campaign, but reports claim that Flamengo are keen on bringing him to Brazil at the earliest possibility.
The Serie A outfit have already made contact with his representatives, but it is highly unlikely that Arsenal will grant his departure in the coming days.
Arsenal have recently agreed personal terms with Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, but he is only expected to join the club next summer.
The club have no plans of pursuing an immediate successor. They are prepared to release Jorginho when his contract expires on June 30.
Flamengo have no choice but to wait for the midfielder. Jorginho has opened the door to plying his trade in the Brazilian top-flight.
